Router & network configuration
Change the customer's router settings remotely: firewall, port forwards, VLANs, VPN, DNS, DHCP and Wi-Fi. The check confirms the setting changed after you accepted the job.
Overview
OPS Network keeps every customer's router configuration on OPS Hub. Changes are pushed to the router in game within a minute, and Wi-Fi settings change the real router's network. Port forwards decide whether a self-hosted website works: forward 80 and 443 to the web server or visitors get 'connection refused'. A configuration job is checked by looking at the line's settings, which must have been changed after you accepted the job.
Jobs this covers
net_cfg_firewall, net_cfg_forward, net_cfg_vlan, net_cfg_vpn, net_cfg_dns, net_cfg_dhcp, net_cfg_wifi — certificate: Network configuration (recommended)
The equipment — what everything does
Router settings editor
LAN, DHCP and reservations, DNS, Wi-Fi, guest Wi-Fi, VLANs, firewall rules, port forwards and VPN.
In game: OPS Hub → OPS Network ISP → the customer's line → Router settings → Save.
Port forward
Sends traffic arriving on an outside port to a device inside (e.g. 443 → the web server).
In game: Router settings → Port forwards → + Add.
VLAN
Splits one network into isolated parts (e.g. guests and CCTV away from staff).
In game: Router settings → VLANs → + Add, tick 'isolated'.
Tools & PPE
Engineer laptop & console cable
Configures routers, NVRs and servers, runs speed tests and opens OPS Hub.
Standalone servers: tools are in your van (OPS Work → My van & tools). Items servers: collect them — and the job’s parts — at an OPS depot.
Step by step
Open the job in OPS Work and read exactly what the customer wants.
On OPS Hub, open OPS Network ISP → the customer's line → Router settings.
Add the firewall rule, forward, VLAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP reservation or Wi-Fi password the job asks for.
Save. The router picks the change up in game within a minute.
Press Check on the job — it reads the saved settings and confirms the change.
Health & safety
Customer data & privacy
Risk: Router settings, passwords and camera footage are private.
Control: Only change what the job needs. Never share Wi-Fi passwords or footage, and log out of customer systems when you finish.
Locking the customer out
Risk: A wrong firewall rule or Wi-Fi change cuts the customer off.
Control: Change only what was asked, note the old value, and test afterwards.
In game you confirm these in a risk assessment before starting. Skipping them on risky work can cause a fall or a shock — and it’s logged as a safety incident.
When it’s not done correctly
Settings changed before accepting the job
The check needs a change after acceptance. Make the change again, or tweak and save.
Wrong port forwarded for a website
Visitors get 'connection refused' and the customer's self-hosted site stays down.
Open Wi-Fi left behind
The Wi-Fi job fails: it needs a password set.
Firewall default changed to allow
Everything inside is exposed. It's a serious security mistake that the customer can complain about.
