Overview
What it does
San Andreas Power & Light is the electricity company: power stations, transmission, substations, feeders, pole transformers and every customer supply, including EV chargers.
On OPS Hub
OPS Hub → Grid control and Customers, meters & solar.
On the phone
Crews get fault jobs and dispatch in OPS Work.
What players physically do
Everything below happens in the world, with your character, where other players can see it.
- Build generation, pylons and substations, and string the cable
- Connect a house: service drop, cut-out, meter, consumer unit
- Fit EV wallboxes and charging posts
- Operate breakers and reclosers and repair faults
- Work safely on poles with the right PPE and tools
How the system works
How San Andreas Power & Light's part of the world fits together — and what breaks when it doesn't.
Electricity: San Andreas Power & Light
From station to socket
Power stations feed 400 kV transmission to substations, which step it down to 11 kV feeders, then pole transformers to LV, and a service drop to each property's cut-out and meter. The consumer unit then feeds sockets, lights and chargers.
Substations
A substation needs protection, a DC battery and earthing to energise. An RTU lets Grid control switch it remotely.
Grid control
OPS Hub → Grid control shows load, faults and switching. Feeders can trip on faults or be switched for maintenance.
What depends on it
Sockets, lighting, EV chargers, routers, ONTs, NVRs, masts, fuel pumps and data-centre UPS charging all need live mains. A feeder outage cascades: no power means no internet, CCTV or mobile signal unless there's battery backup.
Safety
Always isolate, lock off and prove dead before work. Never assume a circuit is dead.
Every job
Every job San Andreas Power & Light does. Open one to see who it's for, what the customer pays, what the engineer earns, the certificate needed, the parts used and exactly how the server checks the work was really done. A job is only paid when its check passes.
Electrical supply & EV charging
Connect new electricity supplies and EV chargers so sockets and chargers are live.
New electricity supply
$1,500engineer earns $700
Connect the property: live consumer unit on site.
Who it's for
Money
Customer pays $1,500; the engineer is paid $700 wages when it's signed off. The rest goes to the company.
Certificate
Electrical installation (Part P) required to accept this job.
How it's created
Raised automatically for customers around the city, and by customers on the phone.
How the server checks it was really done
A consumer unit must be live on site — really powered from the grid.
Parts used from company stock
Training: Electrical supply & EV charging — the full step by step, tools, PPE and hazards for this job.
EV charger installation

Training & safety
Each group of jobs has a course in OPS Academy: the lesson below, a health & safety module, an exam and a practical. You can read all of it here, or take it on OPS Hub → Classroom, in the OPS Academy app on the phone or laptop, or at opsacademy.sa in game.

Overview
Power comes from the grid (substations and feeders) over poles to a service cut-out and meter at each property, then into a consumer unit that feeds sockets, lights and chargers. A supply is only live when every link is complete and the grid is energised — in a power cut nothing downstream works. Jobs check that the consumer unit or charger near the site is live.
The equipment — and what it does
Where the supply enters the property and is measured.
/towers → San Andreas Power & Light → Customer supply & metering.
Feeds sockets and lights around it through breakers.
/towers → SAPL → Fuse boards & isolators.
Charges electric vehicles from its own circuit.
/towers → SAPL → EV charging.
Service drop, LV and mains cable linking it all.
Run power cable / Run mains cable from the SAPL menu.
Tools & protective equipment
Proves a circuit is dead before you touch it, and measures voltage, continuity and resistance.
Padlocks and tags that stop anyone switching a circuit back on while you work on it.
Tightens electrical terminals and rack rails to the correct torque — not too loose, not stripped.
Drills walls for cable entry and fixes brackets, cameras and boxes with the right plugs and screws.
Reaches walls, ceilings and pole steps. Place it at a 1-in-4 angle on firm ground.
Rated gloves for work near live electrical parts and for sharp metal edges.
Protect your eyes from fibre shards, drilling dust and laser light.
Makes you visible to traffic and protects your head from falling objects and low beams.
Step by step
- Isolate and prove deadLock off the supply and prove dead with a voltage tester before touching anything.
- Fit the supply kitPlace the cut-out, meter and consumer unit (or the EV charger) from the SAPL menu.
- Run the cablesRun the service drop from the pole and mains cable to the consumer unit / charger.
- Terminate to torqueTighten every terminal with the torque driver.
- Test and energiseRemove the lock-off, switch on and test. The check needs the kit live.
- CompletePress Check on the job.
Health & safety — hazards and controls
Mains voltage can give a fatal shock and cause burns.
Never open powered kit. Isolate and prove dead with a voltage tester before touching terminals.
Someone switches the circuit back on while you work.
Lock off and tag the isolator; keep the key with you.
A fall from a ladder or pole can cause serious injury.
Use a ladder at a 1-in-4 angle on firm ground with three points of contact. Above 2 m on a pole, clip on your harness.
What goes wrong if it's done badly
With incidents on you can get a shock and be hurt. It's logged as a safety breach.
The consumer unit is dead: sockets, chargers and lighting won't work, and the check fails.
Nothing is live until San Andreas Power & Light restores the feeder — the check fails until then.
