Overview
What it does
OPS Secure designs, installs and maintains CCTV and access control: IP, PTZ, ANPR, thermal, analogue and wireless cameras, video doorbells, NVRs and DVRs, for homes, businesses and the police.
On OPS Hub
OPS Hub → CCTV systems (systems, cameras, events, plate reads, faults).
On the phone
Owners watch remotely in the Secure View app and get doorbell and fault alerts.
What players physically do
Everything below happens in the world, with your character, where other players can see it.
- Mount cameras with a ladder and cable them to an NVR, DVR or PoE switch
- Stay inside the NVR's PoE power budget and channel limit
- Set recording mode and retention, and switch on remote viewing
- Watch cameras at the recorder, a monitor, or remotely on Secure View
- Clean lenses, re-terminate cables and replace dead cameras
How the system works
How OPS Secure's part of the world fits together — and what breaks when it doesn't.
OPS Secure CCTV
Systems
A system is a recorder (NVR or DVR) and its cameras. IP cameras use PoE over CAT6; analogue cameras need a DVR; wireless cameras need Wi-Fi and a powered NVR on site.
Power & budgets
The NVR has 8 PoE ports and a 120 W budget; PoE switches add more. A camera without power, a channel or a path stays offline.
Recording & events
Motion, heat, ANPR plate reads and doorbell rings are recorded as events. Recording modes are motion, continuous or off.
Who can watch
The owner, people they share with, members of an organisation job (e.g. police) and staff. Remote viewing needs the NVR online and remote viewing on.
Faults
Lens, cable and dead faults raise OPS Secure jobs. OPS Hub → CCTV systems shows everything live.

CCTV camera installation
Fit IP, PTZ, ANPR, thermal and wireless cameras and get them live on the customer's recorder.
Overview
An OPS Secure system is a recorder (NVR for IP cameras, DVR for analogue ones) with cameras connected to it. IP cameras take power and data over CAT6 from the NVR's PoE ports (8 ports, 120 W budget) or a PoE switch cabled to the NVR. Wireless cameras and doorbells need a powered NVR on site and Wi-Fi in range. A camera is only 'online' when it has a path, power, a free channel and no fault. Jobs check for cameras online on a recorder near the site.
The equipment — and what it does
Record video over the network, powered by PoE.
/towers → OPS Secure → 'IP cameras (PoE)'. Cable to the NVR or a PoE switch.
Pan-tilt-zoom with 30× zoom; number-plate reading; heat detection. They draw more PoE.
/towers → OPS Secure → 'Specialist cameras'.
Need a socket (wireless camera) or nothing (doorbell), a powered NVR on site and Wi-Fi in range.
/towers → OPS Secure → 'Wireless & doorbells'.
Adds PoE ports when the NVR's are full, up to its own budget.
Cable the switch to the NVR, and the cameras to the switch.
Data and power to each IP camera.
'Pull CAT6 from the nearest box', crimp both ends onto camera and NVR/switch.
Tools & protective equipment
Reaches walls, ceilings and pole steps. Place it at a 1-in-4 angle on firm ground.
Drills walls for cable entry and fixes brackets, cameras and boxes with the right plugs and screws.
Fits RJ45 plugs onto CAT6 and proves all eight cores are connected in the right order.
Configures routers, NVRs and servers, runs speed tests and opens OPS Hub.
Makes you visible to traffic and protects your head from falling objects and low beams.
Clipped to a pole or anchor point, it stops a fall when you work above 2 m.
Protect your eyes from fibre shards, drilling dust and laser light.
Step by step
- Agree camera positionsWalk the site with the customer: entrances, tills, car park. Avoid pointing at neighbours' windows.
- Mount the camerasUse the ladder and place each camera from the OPS Secure menu, aimed at the area to cover.
- Run CAT6 to each cameraPull CAT6 from the box to each camera and back to the NVR or PoE switch.
- Crimp and terminateCrimp both ends and terminate them onto the camera and the NVR/switch.
- Check power & channels[E] at the NVR → system: each camera should say 'ok'. 'No PoE' means the budget is full; 'No channel' means the NVR is full.
- Watch and focusWatch each camera from the NVR or monitor and check the view.
- CompletePress Check on the job.
Health & safety — hazards and controls
A fall from a ladder or pole can cause serious injury.
Use a ladder at a 1-in-4 angle on firm ground with three points of contact. Above 2 m on a pole, clip on your harness.
Cameras that film neighbours or public areas unfairly break privacy law.
Point cameras at the customer's own property and put up 'CCTV in operation' signs.
Mains voltage can give a fatal shock and cause burns.
Never open powered kit. Isolate and prove dead with a voltage tester before touching terminals.
What goes wrong if it's done badly
Extra cameras show 'No PoE' and stay offline. Add a PoE switch.
'Wrong recorder' — that camera never comes online.
'No Wi-Fi' — it can't reach the recorder.
The whole system is unpowered: nothing records.
They don't count — the check needs cameras added after acceptance.

CCTV recorders, recording & remote viewing
Install NVR/DVR recorders, set recording modes, and let customers watch remotely in OPS Secure View.
Overview
The recorder is the brain of a CCTV system. It must have a socket within 3 m, its owner set, and a recording mode (motion or continuous). Remote viewing on the phone needs the NVR cabled to a router that's online, plus remote viewing switched on. Police and organisations can be given access by job, and owners can share with other players.
The equipment — and what it does
Records up to 16 IP cameras, with 8 PoE ports.
/towers → OPS Secure → 'Recorders & viewing'. [E] → Set up.
Records analogue HD-TVI cameras.
Same menu.
Watch the system on site; the keyboard controls PTZ.
Placed near the recorder; [E] → Watch.
The customer watches remotely on their phone.
Install from the Store; needs remote viewing on and the NVR online.
Tools & protective equipment
Configures routers, NVRs and servers, runs speed tests and opens OPS Hub.
Fits RJ45 plugs onto CAT6 and proves all eight cores are connected in the right order.
Drills walls for cable entry and fixes brackets, cameras and boxes with the right plugs and screws.
Step by step
- Place the recorderPlace the NVR/DVR within 3 m of a socket.
- Set it up[E] at the recorder → Set up: name, owner, recording mode, organisation job (e.g. police), sharing.
- Connect it to the internetFor remote viewing, run CAT6 from the NVR to the customer's router and terminate both ends.
- Turn on remote viewingIn Set up, switch on remote viewing.
- Prove itOpen OPS Secure View on a phone and watch a camera.
- CompletePress Check on the job.
Health & safety — hazards and controls
Mains voltage can give a fatal shock and cause burns.
Never open powered kit. Isolate and prove dead with a voltage tester before touching terminals.
Router settings, passwords and camera footage are private.
Only change what the job needs. Never share Wi-Fi passwords or footage, and log out of customer systems when you finish.
Heavy kit such as racks, UPS cabinets and cable drums can injure your back.
Lift with your legs, keep loads close, and use two people or a trolley for anything over 25 kg.
What goes wrong if it's done badly
The recorder is unpowered, nothing records, and the recorder check fails.
The app says it can't watch remotely and the remote check fails.
The recording check fails and incidents go unrecorded.

CCTV maintenance, faults & removal
Keep systems healthy: clean lenses, replace damaged cables and dead cameras, and remove systems cleanly.
Overview
Cameras fail: lenses get dirty, cables get damaged and units die. Each fault raises an OPS Secure job and shows on the recorder ([E] → the camera). Repairs to kit under warranty, or covered by a support contract, are free for the customer. A removal job is only done when every camera at the site is gone.
